I overheated the engine (separate problem) & still was able to drive & park it for a few days. I came back a few days later & the back wheels are locked up. The car is front-wheel drive. It is not the regular disc brakes (we took the caliper off one side with no change). We are pretty sure it isn't the emergency brake (it seems to be working fine) & it isn't the clutch. It goes into gear & "tries" to go, but the rear wheels won't let it budge more than a centimeter. Suggestions? It appears the rear axle is seized, but I have no idea how it could have happened or how to fix it. I can't even tow it!

Car A/C problem. Light comes on but Compressor doesnt engage?

I have a 1991 Toyota Tercel with factory a/c. When i push the A/C button, the light comes on but the compressor doesn't engage. Now it uses a magnetic clutch to engage the a/c. The first thing the Haynes book says to check is the relay switch way the hell up under the dash. But im wondering, if the light comes on, is the relay switch still good? hey everyone i have a 1995 Holden commodore vs series one manual OK sorry this is quite hard to explain recently my cars clutch has started to go so its burning out however i cannot seem to make the car move at all if the clutch has burned out on a manual car it is still possible to drive without a clutch isn't it but when i do that specific technique where you put the car in 1st gear and turn it off then turn it on and sort of quickly push the accelerator it will go but my car seems to do nothing at all example when i turn the car off and leave it in first gear and do not push the clutch down how you normal would the car does not jump forward at all just sits there like it is in neutral it starts perfectly and such just doesn't move at all in gear. I got an old 96 Suzuki Bandit that was having starting issues. Had to work the clutch lever sometimes to get it to start. Cable clutch, not hydrolic. So I thought the problem was in the safety switch in the clutch lever. I jumped that out but it changed nothing. There is no turn over at all. I checked the kickstand and neutral safeties also. Where do I go to now? Starter switch? Battery connection to starter? When it did fire up it was solid, just had to pump the clutch a few times.

1994 dodge shadow engine swap 3.0L 5speed.?

ive had this dodge shadow about a year and a half. my throwout bearing was going but i wasnt gonna tear the motor out to just change it unless i was putting a new motor in it. So i bought a motor from a junkyard it came out of a 1995 chrysler lebaron with only 60,000 miles on it. i bought new clutches, new water pump, new plugs and wires, and distributor. and tore the old one out and put the new one in...which went pretty damn well and i was happy with the job. it fired up first try but i have a miss. not a constant miss but a hesitation. it seems to clear up over 3000rpms. but not always its weird. does anyone have any suggestions or anything on what could be wrong. i really need this car to run. i like it alot. its been a damn good car and i wanna get atleast another year or 2 out of it. so PLEASE anyone. thank you for reading

Triumph Daytona 675 will not start......?

Yesterday, my 2008 Triumph Daytona 675 would not start for the 1st time, after push starting it and riding it for a while, it would not start again. Bought a brand new battery from the Triumph Dealership and put it in, and it still would not start. Took it to a local auto parts store and they tested and charged it, put it in and it still will not start. Dash and lights turn on fully. In Neutral, with the clutch down, when I push the starter, it makes a single click noise and a quite long squeaking noise. Any help???

Why is my 2008 Suzuki GS500F idling high?

Sorry, the details of this are a bit long. I started this project because I had backfiring through one of the carbs (it's a dual carb motor) and issues with the idle slow to return at a stop. With the high idle, if I slowly released the clutch while stopped, the idle would come back down and stay down. My first fix was re-shimming an exhaust valve which is now within specifications. After that I moved to synchronizing the carbs. At first this was a challenge because the idle was everywhere and the gauges fluctuated everywhere. Then, out of nowhere, the idle jumps to 5000 and stays there. If I put it in gear and hold the brake, as if I were stopped, the idle comes down, but jumps back up as soon as the clutch is pressed. The good thing here is that the idle is consistent enough at 5000 that I could synchronize the carbs. The bad is that I now have synched carbs and a 5k idle. I have adjusted the idle nob at the bottom, it is not even touching. The throttle cables have free play so they aren't the issue. I am confuzzled. Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Did advance Auto break My car?

ok. My car was cranking slow in the mornings. so i drove up to advance and had them do a load test on the battery. ever since they did that now it wont start. it wont crank. the starter wont even click. it has enough power to run the headlights and blast the horn and light up everything inside but it will not even try to crank. i put a new battery in it just to make sure. still nothing. it's a manual so we tried push starting it. i Pulled it with my jeep about 15 mph and had My friend engage the clutch and even at that speed it still would not fire. We dragged it 100 yards. popping the clutch along the way. it wouldn't even sputter. i checked the fuses. they are all good. i looked at the harness. No problem. is it just a coincidence this happened after the people at advanced load tested it? or is it likely that they screwed it up? what could they have possibly done that would cause such a problem? i didn't think those machines that do the load test would let you do it wrong. i thought that if it was hooked up wrong it wouldn't run the test. is that correct? i checked the fuses. its getting fuel. it's got plenty of juice in the battery. i can't think of anything else that could make that starter not engage. or not even allow it to fire during a push start. the whole thing is just dead. did advance break it? or is this just coincidence? i ask because i can't think of anything they could have done on a load test that could have done this. can you? oh its a 96 Plymouth Breeze in case your were wondering. nothing fancy. just an old pile of junk. :-)

Chevy colorado cooling issue?

I have had a hell of a time getting this truck cooling properly. I put in a new thermostat, that I know will open and close as I tested it before it went into the truck. This is what I did. Removed lower radiator hose to drain fluid. Removed the hose from the t-stat. Unbolt t-stat. Bolt new t-stat in place. Put a brand new radiator hose on. Filled truck up with dex-cool. Now here comes the problem. I left radiator cap off and started engine. Left the engine runnig for 30 minutes. T-stat never opens. The top radiator hose is hot. You can put your finger in the top of the radiator it is hot, however the bottom hose is not hot at all. And seeing as the bottom radiator hose is directly connected to the t-stat, it cant get hot enough to open, even though the temp gauge is over half way up. I have also installed a new water pump and fan clutch. Which I know work, cause if I take the t-stat out and put an empty housing in does the opposite and dosent get hot enough and the computer goes nuts. What the heck am i doing wrong here

New manual transmission driver, need some help...?

It doesn't hurt. It gives you a smooth transition between gears. As for depress the clutch all the way in, you don't have too. You need to find a sweet spot where the clutch let you shift. Normally, I depress the clutch about 1/2 to 3/4 in and shifting gears. It is a lot faster shifting than depressing all the way in. One thing, you can always shift from gear to neutral without having to depress the clutch.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me an average cost to replace an entire clutch assembly on a 1999 VW Beetle. I was quoted $975.00 + tax for the whole job from my regular mechanic. And yes, they have taken a different direction from their earlier stuff, but if you are a true fan you will respect the bands decision and back them all the way. I agree the Whatever People Say I Am was their best, and possibly the best they will ever achieve, but that doesn't mean that their new stuff isn't worth listening to, it's still a lot better than a lot of the music around and, if you we weren't comparing it to the older Monkeys I'm sure that we would like it and see it for what it is, rather than thinking that it isn't as good as what has been. 2002 Altima Firewall?

I am installing subs in my 02 Altima. I have put subs in numerous cars, yet I cant find any openings. Anyone installed subs in an 02 Altima? One guy told me to go through the wheel well into the fender into the car, one said to run it under the body of the car and drill through the trunk which sounds 100% retarded, and others said to just drill through the firewall. I've driven only automatics since I've had my license. I recently when car shopping and found an awesome deal on a sweet car. I couldn't pass it up. The problem is the car is a stick shift. Everybody says it's not very hard to learn. I haven't had too much trouble but I do have a few questions about what not to do. Things that are bad for the car. Any info would be great. When yielding, after being in second gear, should I slow down and shift to neutral or just stay in second gear through the turn? (Assuming I'm not stopping just slowing down to yield) Also, when down shift do I have to depress the gas while releasing the clutch as I would when shifting up a gear or just depress the clutch? And while down shifting can I be slowing using the break or release the break while depressing the clutch? And can I shift into neutral from any gear? I think there was a time when Avril had more influence but Eminem is much bigger than she is right now. She has a good message but she doesn't have enough fans to really make as much of a difference. An argument could be made that Eminem is in the hight/peek of his career. Avril reached her peek in her first album and really hasn't been as big since.

Question about A/C system on Ford Explorer?

2000 Ford Explorer with the 4.0 and automatic transmission. 140,000 miles. Okay, sometimes the A/C works, and sometimes it doesn't. It first started getting finicky when going down the highway. Acceleration from 40-55 or so would completely kill the A/C system as in it would still blow air but it would be warm. Now it's staring to blow warm air at random. Most of the time it's still cold but just has hick ups where it's warm. When it's cold though, it's cold. I'm having a debate with her stupid uncle because he's saying the system needs to be recharged. I say NO! It's the compressor or the clutch that's going bad. Big Best Answer going out with this one fellas.

Grab point of my clutch has been getting lower and gears grind upon start up but gets better after pumping?

I have trouble getting it into gear when I first start it up in the morning but after pumping the clutch a bit it gets a lot better and doesn't grind. I have been noticing the grab point had been getting closer to the floor but its almost to the point now that the clutch is not all the way in when I put it to the floor. Could this just be fluid levels or stretched cable or is it likely I need a new clutch. It does slip slightly If I strain it out of first but not drastically.

Since I was little I've had severe OCD and Panic Attacks. OCD examples; not swallowing my spit because I brought myself to believe that if I did my family would die. Always counting my steps, turning over objects a certain amount (even numbers) of times that would usually equal 4 or 5. 4 being the members of my family and 5 being the members of my family and my pets... I would be saving their lives. I still do this frequently. If I try to stop myself from being OCD, I get very uncomfortable (I clutch my hands and try to think of something else) but it drives me insane. Lately it's been getting worse, I've been in a bad mood all week and I'm depressed. It's exhausting, having to deal with all the thoughts in my head... calculating and adding up letters in words-- and all for what? Nothing. I try to stop myself from doing this but it's like I CAN'T. I've been snapping at people all week because I'm just fed up with myself, I hate myself at this point. I have bad thoughts of killing people and then I feel dirty because of the mistakes I've made in my life and I am just unhappy. Sometimes I find myself talking to myself, just having conversations with someone I don't know and about a situation that's never happened to me. And when I catch myself, I'm like... OK STOP, I'm exhausting myself. What should I do? I might go to a Therapist... I'm just wondering if there's a name for my problem? Oh and if it matters at all, I'm 17.

How do I turn a corner with a manual transmission?

You should never hold the clutch in even if your in the manual position while your in motion it's not good on the tranny. as your coming into a corner depending on your speed which in most cases isn't gonna be ridiculously fast your should be able to put it into 2nd gear. Put the car into second right as your about to turn the corner and as soon as you put it in gear let your clutch out and accelerate through the corner you will get the best performance out of it this way.

Rpm's on my manual transmission 2000 Jetta dip when clutch is engaged.?

Here's some more details. Whenever I put the clutch in, or when i start the car, and the transmission is going down from higher to right around idle, they dip too low and then shoot back up to where they're suppose to be when the engine is idling. When that happens the engine acts as if its going to die for a second until the rpms kick back up. I don't really know what to look for or anything I could do to help this, so any suggestions will help!

Really really weird dream need help interpreting it?

I had this dream a couple weaks ago, but it's still fresh in my memory. When I dreamt it, it was as though it was really happening. I had dreamt that I was at the bus stop and there was a man in a body bag. He was squirming and suffocating, trying to call for help, but was too weak to do so. We (everyone at the bus stop) all had gathered around and were wanting to open it for him, but were too afraid to do so. We were too afraid of what we would see. Then someone had called 9-11 and an ambulance came by. They opened it and as they were opening it, the man inside was saying: "Please amputate me." Which is strange, because his legs were chopped off and metals poles were put in their place. A note was left - and in that note, the man who had committed this act talked about how he, the man writing, was black and becuase he was black, he was born as the wretched of the earth and had no hope for money, that his existence was doomed from the beginning. The man in the body bag was someone who interviewed the black guy, but ultimately did not hire the black guy. So, the black guy was frustrated and did that to the guy in the body bag as an act of rebellion against God. Really really strange.

Im in west virginia and My truck is very loud its a dodge 5.7l hemi with headers y pipes and glasspacks with turndowns as you can imagine its very loud! it was about 6pm i drove past my friends pushed the clutch in and revved it i wasnt speeding and it has to be after 11pm to be considered disturbing the peace here.
