Are the lybian rebels worse than their dictator?

i have no clear indication if our military action is in our best interest. there are reports that some of the rebels have fougt against US forces in other foreign affairs. PLEASE DONT MAKE THIS A PARTISAN ISSUE. we have enough crap going on in the states, does this work against US interests and are we suppprting our enemies? please, no conjecture. i only want informed commentary.
